The works in the exhibition are the result of the collaboration between Lafayette College’s Chun Wai Liew, associate professor of computer science, and Ed Kerns, Clapp Professor of Art, who share an interest in recurring natural patterns. these patterns exist on all scales and produce degrees of complexity leading to emergent qualities.
Using basic patterns to explore how slight changes in the “rules of growth” create dynamic visual structures, these forms are then combined in layers of transparent surfaces, which suggest shifting points in space and allow the viewer to track the evolutionary growth of the final image.
